Deadline to contest 2024 MIPS scores approaching
Practices that participate in the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) have until 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 14 to contest their 2024 MIPS scores. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released the scores, which CMS will use to determine whether MIPS participants get positive, neutral, or negative Medicare payment adjustments next year.
You can access your score and performance feedback by signing into the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website with the same credentials you used to submit your 2024 MIPS data. Practice representatives can view individual, subgroup, and group performance feedback and payment adjustments. Alternative payment model (APM) entity representatives and virtual group representatives can view information at the entity and group level, respectively. Third-party representatives cannot access feedback and scores.
Participants in Medicare Shared Savings Program accountable care organizations (ACOs) should contact their ACO to find out how to obtain a HARP account via the ACO Management System. ACO representatives must have the “staff user” role to be able to access scores for the entity.
If you believe CMS erred in calculating your final score or payment adjustment, you can request a targeted review through the QPP website until the Nov. 14 deadline. Circumstances that may warrant a targeted review include:
- You submitted data under the wrong tax identification number or national provider identifier.
- You have qualifying APM participant status and should not be subject to MIPS payment adjustments.
- Your performance categories were not automatically reweighted even though you qualified for reweighting due to extreme and uncontrollable circumstances.
Responses to requests for targeted reviews may be delayed due to the government shutdown.
