AAFP Responds to 2010 Medicare Fee Schedule
The AAFP has sent a letter (6-page PDF; About PDFs) to CMS Acting Administrator Charlene Frizzera detailing what it likes and doesn't like about the agency's final rule on the 2010 Medicare physician fee schedule. According to AAFP Board Chair Ted Epperly, M.D., of Boise, Idaho, the fee schedule "demonstrates CMS' continued recognition that a high quality, efficient health care system must rest on a foundation of primary medical care." However, he also notes that family physicians are "outraged" about the scheduled implementation of a 21.2 Medicare physician pay cut for 2010. The AAFP is encouraging its members to send letters regarding the final fee schedule to CMS before the comment period ends on Dec. 29.Read complete coverage in AAFP News Now.
