CMS offers sneak peek at 2021 MIPS final scores
Performance year 2021 Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) final scores are now available for preview. The preview period is part of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ efforts to provide more transparency in the MIPS scoring and performance feedback process.
Authorized representatives of practices, virtual groups, and alternative payment model (APM) entities can sign into the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website to access preview scores. Scores are available for those who reported through traditional MIPS or the APM Performance Pathway. The preview will show data used to calculate the highest final score that could be attributed to a clinician, group, or APM entity, including:
- Performance category-level scores and weights.
- Bonus points.
- Measure-level performance data and scores.
- Activity-level scores.
The preview will not include information about payment adjustments or patient-level reports.
If you believe there is an error in your score, contact the QPP Service Center (888-288-8292). Because this is just a preview of the final scores, issues raised during this period are not part of a targeted review. The targeted review period opens when CMS releases final performance feedback and payment adjustment information. The agency anticipates doing this in August.
Additional information is available in the 2021 MIPS Final Score Preview FAQs.
