The safety of meeting attendees* is AAFP’s top priority. We believe the most effective way to ensure the safety of all attendees is for them to be vaccinated against COVID-19, and we encourage all attendees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before attending.
Please note that proof of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of the meeting will be required for all in-person meeting attendees. If you prefer, proof of full vaccination may be substituted for the PCR test at your option.

The AAFP also recommends COVID-19 vaccine boosters for everyone who is eligible and able to receive them as per current CDC guidance.
If the CDC’s definition of “fully vaccinated” is revised, we will adjust our policy to reflect the most current public health and safety guidelines. As of April 2, 2022, the administration of an additional primary dose or a booster dose is not required to be considered fully vaccinated for public health purposes.
Attendees should be aware that, while AAFP will make every effort to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission on site, it is possible that attendees will come in contact with people in airports, hotels, and around the meeting facility who could potentially carry the virus, which is why AAFP is requiring attendees to provide proof of a negative PCR test or be fully vaccinated for their own safety, as well as the safety of others.
*Definition of attendees – Registrants, guests, staff, speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors of the AAFP event who are 18 or older and attending in person.
Prior to arriving on site, attendees will be asked to provide proof that they have had a negative PCR test within 72 hours prior to the start of the meeting or are fully vaccinated with a vaccine approved by FDA. AAFP contracts with a third-party vendor to manage the verification process and to make your entry to the meeting faster, safer, and more secure. AAFP currently uses the free CLEAR app to facilitate proof of negative PCR test or vaccination at all AAFP meetings and events. If you arrive at registration without having already completed the verification process, it may result in unnecessary delays as we process and verify the information you provide.
Uploading your proof of negative PCR test or vaccination must be done in advance of the meeting. An email will be sent to all attendees approximately 10 business days prior to the event date with detailed instructions on how to upload to CLEAR. Once your documentation is uploaded and verified, a green health pass will be issued. Your green health pass must be presented for inspection upon arrival at the meeting before access is granted. No one without advance verification of full vaccination status or negative PCR test as outlined will be allowed to attend the event, and AAFP will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by attendees without such verification.
International attendees are not able to use the CLEAR app. Bring a copy or photo of your proof of negative PCR test or vaccination to registration. It should clearly show a negative PCR test result or which vaccine you received and the dates you received each shot. All WHO Emergency Use Listing procedure vaccines will be accepted (see a full list below). International attendees should always check current travel restrictions to the U.S. on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website before planning your travel to make sure you will be able to enter the U.S.
AAFP encourages attendees to visit their hotel’s website or contact the hotel for the most up-to-date health and safety information specific to that hotel.
AAFP is monitoring the CDC’s travel guidelines, state, and local guidelines closely and will update this page with new information as it becomes available.
These protocols may be revised at any time for any reason as the AAFP deems appropriate or advisable based on local or national conditions.
