Scheduled maintenance is planned for November 8–9. You may experience brief interruptions during this time.
Geriatric care is a crucial part of practicing family medicine — especially since family physicians provide about half of all ambulatory care for adults more than 65 years old. AAFP provides a variety of geriatric CME and a geriatric medicine conference to help physicians sharpen their skills.
AAFP geriatric medicine CME courses are designed to equip family physicians with tools to improve patient outcomes, communicate with patient family members, better manage chronic disease and gain deeper insight into age-related mental health conditions.
Our courses cover these geriatric medicine topics and more:
Our geriatric medicine CME conference is acceptable for up to 25.5 Live AAFP Prescribed credits. Geriatric Medicine Edition 13, our most recent online geriatric CME course, is accredited for up to 22.75 Enduring Materials, Self-Study AAFP Prescribed credits.
To maintain AAFP membership requirements, family physicians must report at least 150 credits of approved CME every three calendars. Please keep in mind that your state licensing board may require an additional amount of CME or more specific requirements as well.
Yes, the AAFP has a 2025 geriatric medicine conference. Our next live event will be held from Tuesday, December 2 to Friday, December 5, 2025, in Scottsdale, Arizona. Register before November 21 for Early Bird Pricing.
