Reader feedback is important to guide us toward publishing the information AFP readers want and need. There are two easy ways to send your comments to us. The first issue of each month includes a comment card to mail in, or you can simply send an e-mail to afpedit@aafp.org. Although we are not able to reply individually to every comment and e-mail we receive, we do read every one.

Comments from readers are varied: asking about continuing medical education (CME) credits or policies; notifying us of address changes; pointing out suspected errors; submitting ideas for future content; and telling us how much they like AFP.

Many of our authors provide their contact information (often including their e-mail address) for our readers who may wish to correspond with them directly. The corresponding author's contact information is listed at the end of the article, just above the reference list.

We send subscription inquiries and change of address requests to our circulation department. To contact them directly regarding your address or subscription, or to order back issues, the e-mail address is afpcirc@aafp.org.

Our readers take the CME quizzes very seriously, and we receive many comment cards expressing gratitude for offering free CME credit through AFP. We also receive requests for information about our CME program. For the fastest response to a question about CME or your CME record, you can e-mail the Academy's CME division directly at cmer@aafp.org. The AAFP also has a CME Center online at https://www.aafp.org/cme. There you can find information on other CME programs, check your CME record, or request a report of the CME you have earned. Sometimes we receive comments that a specific quiz question or answer appears to be ambiguous or incorrect. We investigate each one and, if indicated, publish a correction and correct the online version of the quiz.

Readers also let us know when there are certain topics or areas of interest they would like to see covered in AFP. We appreciate all requests and suggestions for new content. Our goal is to provide information and resources that are clinically relevant and current and that cover the broad spectrum of family medicine. Your input is always taken into consideration and communicated to the editor, who decides what to include in upcoming issues.

Some questions pertain to how to submit an article to be published in AFP. We strongly suggest that authors submit an article proposal before sending their article. Article topic proposals should be submitted via e-mail to afpjournal@georgetown.edu with the words “Article Proposal for AFP Editor” in the subject heading. For more information about our submission guidelines, we have a detailed Authors' Guide on our Web site at https://www.aafp.org/afp/authors. To submit a Letter to the Editor of AFP, e-mail afplet@aafp.org.

Of all the comments we receive, the largest category is praises for AFP. Here are a few we have recently received:

  • I enjoy the format of the articles presented: concise, informative, and accurate. I have heard physicians of other specialties comment on how they enjoy the primary care information provided by the journal.

  • AFP journal is like a mountain of knowledge. It gives me the knowledge and strength to go to my office everyday. Sometimes it makes me get up in the middle of the night and finish all the interesting topics that I would like to read. Thank you so much for being there for me.

  • AFP has gone from a good journal to an outstanding “must read” with its emphasis on evidence-based medicine. To keep producing issue after issue with this level of quality obviously requires an immense effort that this reader admires and applauds. Thank you – your work improves the care I deliver.

  • Excellent articles. My wife places AFP on the top of the pile.

  • Probably the finest single medical magazine of any U.S. publication. We file many articles for reference and patient education.

Thanks for the encouragement! We appreciate all forms of feedback from our readers; your input helps us to know when and how we're on the right track with providing you the best content (and when we go off track, too!). We always want to know what you need and want in AFP (both print and online) to help you to deliver the best level of care to your patients.
