Request permission to use AAFP content

You may request permission to use content from the AAFP’s journals, websites and other publications in your work.

Share AAFP journal articles

The AAFP partners with the Copyright Clearance Center to make it easy to request permission to share articles from the Academy’s journals, American Family Physician, FPM and FP Essentials.

Use this system if you:

  • Are with an academic institution and want to use an article in course materials.

  • Want to distribute an article through interlibrary loan or commercial document delivery.

  • Want to photocopy or digitally share an article for general business or academic use.

Use AAFP journal content in your published work

You can request permission by email to include content from AAFP journals, such as articles, tables, graphs, algorithms or pictures, in your:

  • Journal articles

  • Books

  • Magazines or newspapers

  • Brochures, pamphlets or presentations

Use non-journal content

You can request permission by email if you’d like to republish or otherwise use non-journal content from the AAFP, such as materials from aafp.org, familydoctor.org, newsletters, clinical guidelines or blogs.
