Paula Matthews leads AAFP’s HR, culture and employee engagement strategies.
Paula T. Matthews is the vice president, chief people and administrative officer of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). In this role, she leads AAFP’s human resources (HR) and administrative operations, overseeing talent acquisition, organizational and leadership development, employee engagement, total rewards and overall culture and employee experience. With more than 20 years of HR leadership experience, Matthews is deeply committed to building strong, inclusive workplace cultures that empower teams and support business goals.
Matthews is also active in the Kansas City community. She serves on the boards of Reach Out and Read KC and the Employment Practices Network. She contributes to local HR professional associations as a voice for workplace culture and leadership. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, reading, traveling and cheering on her kids.
