Represent family physicians as an AAFP delegate to the AMA
AAFP delegates to the AMA House of Delegates are the link between grassroots family physicians and the AMA.
These delegates and alternate delegates are the key family physician contacts that allow individual AAFP members to influence the creation and execution of AMA policies. They foster a positive and effective two-way relationship between members and the AMA leadership.
The annual appointment process [NEED LINK] follows the same timeline as the process for selecting AAFP commission members:
July: The AAFP requests nominations from chapter presidents and chapter executives.
By Oct. 15: The board of directors or executive committees of chapters (not individual officers) send letters of recommendations to the subcommittee on screening.
December: The AAFP Board of Directors considers nominations.
