2018 NCCL Delegates Elect New Leaders

April 28, 2018 12:41 pm News Staff Kansas City, Mo. – AAFP chapter delegates who attended the Academy's 2018 National Conference of Constituency Leaders (NCCL) held here April 26-28 elected colleagues to fill various leadership positions.

New Physician alternate delegates to the AAFP Congress of Delegates: Kevin Bernstein, M.D., M.S., of Jacksonville, Fla.; and Meshia Waleh, M.D., of Lexington, S.C.

Member constituency alternate delegates to the AAFP Congress of Delegates: Marty Player, M.D., of Charleston, S.C.; Erika Roshanravan, M.D, of Bothell, Wash.; Jaividhya Dasarathy, M.D., of Cleveland; Mary Harrel, M.D, of Tucson, Ariz.; Wanda Gumbs, M.D., M.P.H., of Atlanta; and Harshini Jayasuriya, M.D., of Holt, Mich.
The member constituency alternate delegates represent the following constituency groups: women; minorities; international medical graduates (IMGs); and lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT) physicians or physicians who support LGBT issues.

2019 member constituency co-conveners: Dasarathy and Harrel (women's constituency); Gumbs and Jayasuriya (minority constituency); Tamer Said, M.D., of Cleveland and Roshanravan (IMG constituency); Bernstein and Waleh (new physicians constituency); Scott Hartman, M.D., of Rochester, N.Y., and Player (LGBT constituency).

Twenty-four chapters sent full delegations to the 2018 NCCL, meaning all five member constituencies were represented by a chapter delegate. NCCL had 44 chapters represented with 172 chapter delegates. The total of 228 registrants included 136 new physicians and 102 first-time attendees.

In addition, 190 individuals attended the concurrent Annual Chapter Leader Forum.
