  1. Assess injured upper and lower extremities to determine the stage and severity of the injury.

  2. Demonstrate proficiency in examination techniques, including range of motion, stability, bone alignment and assessment of soft tissue swelling and/or masses.

  3. Recall relevant musculoskeletal anatomy to aid injury evaluation.

Throughout his career, Dr. Patel has served as team physician for semi- professional, collegiate and high school teams. He’s also been a concussion consultant to several schools and school districts.

Dr. Patel has published several articles and textbooks on sports medicine and musculoskeletal topics. In 2020, Dr. Patel was editor and author for a book on concussions.

Mark Mirabelli, MD, FAAFP

Dr. Mirabelli serves as team physician for St. John Fisher College (NCAA Division III), Rochester Institute of Technology (NCAA Division I/III), the Rochester Knighthawks (National Lacrosse League) and the Rochester Rattlers (Major Lacrosse League). He also serves as a panel physician for the New York State Athletic Commission. Dr. Mirabelli is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians and a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American College of Sports Medicine.
