AAFP Award for Distinguished and Meritorious Service to Family Medicine

The award is open to chapter executives who have served at least 25 years, as well as others who have shown longtime dedication to the AAFP and the specialty of family medicine.

Chapter executives who have received the award in recognition of 25 years of service may receive the award again for their distinguished service to family medicine.

Past recipients of the Award of Merit, the Distinguished Service Award, the Executive Service Award and the Outstanding Service Award are also eligible, with a nomination that includes accomplishments since those awards were received, and details about why the new award should be given.

To nominate someone for the award, send a letter of recommendation by February 15, 2027.

Include a brief summary of the nominee’s accomplishments that demonstrate distinguished and dedicated efforts to advance the specialty of family medicine.

• AAFP staff

The award is approved by the AAFP Board of Directors based on recommendation from the Commission on Membership and Member Services.

It can be presented to more than one honoree in a year, at various venues. Travel expenses are not provided.
