The Adolescent Health Member Interest Group is focused on improving the perception and integration of family medicine into the larger adolescent health discipline.
Who can join this MIG
Participation is open to any AAFP member interested in collaborating with family physicians engaged in adolescent health.
Adolescent Health MIG objectives
- Promote evidence-based adolescent health care in family medicine.
- Advocate for educational resources specific to adolescent health care.
- Foster support for AAFP member interest in adolescent health activities, advocacy, networking, and collaboration.
- Assist the AAFP in membership recruitment and retention of family physicians engaged in adolescent health care.
Long-term MIG goals
- Foster collaboration, communication, and support among family physicians engaged in adolescent health.
- Strengthen the perception and integration of family medicine into the larger adolescent health discipline.
- Help family physicians around the country to provide evidence-based high quality care to the adolescents in their practice to ensure that adolescents have a health home with their family physician.
- Influence policies of the AAFP to support advocacy, education, and public health measures that address adolescent health issues.
- Increase AAFP membership among family physicians with an interest in adolescent health.
- Develop leadership of MIG participants by creating opportunities through advocacy and education.
