The Global Health Member Interest Group (MIG) fosters support for AAFP members interest in global health activities, networking and collaboration. You’ll facilitate professional development in the area of global health and opportunities for engagement in the broader global health movement.

Who can join this MIG

Participation is open to any AAFP member interested in or seeking to learn more about global health.

Global Health MIG objectives

  • Foster support for AAFP member interest in global health activities, networking, and collaboration.
  • Create a mechanism for real time information and ongoing dialogue about and response to member interest and needs in global health.
  • Facilitate professional development in the area of global health and opportunities for engagement in the broader global health movement.
  • Assist the AAFP in membership recruitment and retention of family physicians who are interested in global health.

Long-term MIG goals

  • Create a forum for ongoing dialogue about global health to complement the annual Global Health Workshop.
  • Foster collaboration among family physicians engaged in global health.
  • Strengthen the perception and integration of family medicine into the larger global health discipline.
