The Home-based Primary Care Member Interest Group provides a forum for collaboration, idea-sharing, and advocacy for members who are practicing or interested in home-based primary care.

Who can join this MIG

Participation is open to any AAFP member interested in or seeking to learn more about home-based primary care.

Home-based Primary Care MIG objectives

  • Assist the AAFP in membership recruitment/retention of family physicians with shared professional interest.
  • Provide networking opportunities for AAFP members interested in home-based primary care by starting a dialogue, sharing articles, and creating events through the MIG’s online community.
  • Learn from one another.
  • Create the opportunity for Home-based Primary Care MIG members and others to meet face-to-face of the annual Family Medicine Experience.
  • Create AAFP membership awareness of the value and rewards of home-based primary care.
  • Advocate for educational resources and suggest topics for CME activities related to home-based primary care.
  • Work with the AAFP on home-based primary care advocacy efforts.

Long-term MIG goals

  • Work with the AAFP leadership and membership to bring home-based primary care back into the mainstream of healthcare.
