The Hospital Medicine Member Interest Group serves as a voice for family physicians who practice hospital medicine and advocates for educational resources specific to hospital medicine.
Who can join this MIG
Participation is open to any AAFP member interested in or seeking to learn more about practicing hospital medicine.
Hospital Medicine MIG objectives
- Serve as a voice for family physicians who practice hospital medicine
- Advocate for new opportunities for Hospitalists trained in Family Medicine to demonstrate their expertise akin to the recently discontinued Designation of Focused Practice in Hospital Medicine.
- Encourage MIG members to submit a proposal focused on caring for hospitalized patients during AAFP’s call for content.
- Assist the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) in membership recruitment and retention of family physicians who practice hospital medicine
Long-term MIG goals
- Provide a pathway for professional leadership development within the AAFP
- Support efforts to enhance formal recognition, certification, and subspecialty training for Family Physicians in critical care.
- Encourage participation within the AAFP by Hospitalists trained in Family Medicine.
