AAFP commissions: A path to leadership

AAFP commissions shape policy and programs. Here’s how you can get involved.

Calling all medical students, residents and practicing members with big, strategic ideas.

Do you want to inform policy recommendations, programs and projects plus advise the AAFP Board of Directors? This is your chance to serve on an AAFP commission. Positions on the following commissions are open to you as an AAFP member.

  • Commission on Continuing Professional Development

    Help oversee, plan and evaluate all AAFP-provided CME, accreditation and certification and develop new content delivery methods.

  • Commission on Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness in Family Medicine

    Help develop and evaluate policies and procedures that promote health equity and inclusive, person-centered care while reducing health disparities.

  • Commission on Education

    Focus on curriculum, student areas of interest, academic mentoring and education-based awards.

  • Commission on Federal and State Policy

    Make an impact by providing recommendations on state and federal policy issues that impact family physicians, patients and the health care system.

  • Commission on Health of the Public and Science

    Develop evidence-based clinical guidelines and policies while promoting societal, regulatory and environmental initiatives that improve health for all.

  • Commission on Membership and Member Services

    Grow the future of family medicine by helping recruit new members to the AAFP and providing enhanced services to retain existing members.

  • Commission on Quality and Practice

    Help ease administrative burden by focusing on emerging technologies to manage health data, the practice environment, payment and other key areas.
