Participate and shape how processes and performance are improved
Learn more about quality and performance improvement programs from the AAFP to help improve your practice's systems and outcomes or improve the way you and staff carry out specific tasks and activities.
We partner with other organizations and businesses to offer cohort opportunities exclusively to our members. Joining a cohort means you have the opportunity to impact how recommendations are made to family physicians looking to improve change in practice outcomes (quality improvement) or changes in practice behaviors, workflows and processes (practice improvement).
The distinction between quality vs. performance improvement
| Quality improvement | Performance improvement |
| Focuses more on improving practice processes and quality systems | Focuses more on improving how people perform specific activities |
| Uses chart-review and outcome measurement | Uses surveys and assessment of behaviors and workflows |
| Measures practice-level changes in immunization results | Measures implementation of recommended practices and confidence levels |
