The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) believes that everyone deserves access to affordable health care. Actions taken by the House will result, according to the Congressional Budget Office, in 13 million people losing their health care coverage.
Medicaid work reporting requirements, increased eligibility checks and additional financial barriers will make it harder for individuals to maintain coverage and access the care they need. These changes – in combination with the looming expiration of Affordable Care Act enhanced premium tax credits – will lead to widespread disenrollment and dangerous disruptions in care for millions.
The AAFP stands ready to work with the Senate to ensure protection of coverage and care that millions of Americans depend on.
