A quick guide to 2027 membership dues
Find the section that reflects when you completed your residency or extended training.
Your first year in practice brings new responsibilities, new challenges and new decisions. During residency, your dues were likely covered by your residency program. Now they’re a part of your budget. We’ve made sure dues for new physicians are low to help alleviate some of the financial pressure you may be facing in early practice.

You may still need to report CME as a membership requirement
Every three years you must earn and report 150 CME credits to maintain your AAFP membership. View your account to see if this applies to you this year.
If it does, your deadline to complete this is December 31, 2026.

Many employers cover professional memberships directly or through annual CME stipends. Check with your employer to see if professional membership is covered.
The AAFP provides many resources to family physicians regardless of membership status, and we’ll never stop advocating on your behalf on the issues important to the specialty. However, by allowing your membership to lapse, you lose benefits including your all-access digital subscriptions to American Family Physician and FPM journals, exclusive discounts on CME and events, CME Reporter, the AAFP’s career benchmark dashboard and more.
Once you’ve met the CME requirement of 150 CME credits, you’re “reelected” to AAFP membership. If reelection requirements aren’t met, membership is canceled.
