November 25, 2020, 8:32 am News Staff -- The AAFP is continuing to fight to ensure that family physicians have the resources they need to safely serve on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. More than eight months into the health emergency, one critical resource that remains in short supply is personal protective equipment.
That’s why the Academy is collaborating with the not-for-profit organization Project N95 in a second opportunity for all members to access essential PPE at bulk prices, from Nov. 30 to Dec. 8, with no minimum order.
AAFP members secured a total of more than 147,000 N95 respirators, face shields and gowns this past summer in the Academy’s first collaboration with Project N95. This time, more quality-certified PPE products are available, and the ordering process has been streamlined.
“Family physicians, especially those in solo and small practices, are spending too much time trying to find essential PPE,” said AAFP President Ada Stewart, M.D., of Columbia, S.C. “This collaboration with Project N95 will help members keep their focus where they want it to be — on giving the best patient care.”

These prices do not include taxes or shipping charges. All items are expected to ship in December except for gloves, which are expected to ship by Jan. 31. The program is open to all AAFP members who live in the 50 states; Washington, D.C.; or Puerto Rico.
AAFP members can order PPE from noon EST on Nov. 30 until 3 p.m. EST on Dec. 8. For more information, including product details and answers to frequently asked questions, visit the AAFP’s PPE Purchasing Opportunity webpage at aafp.org/ppe.
