Resident Delegate to the American Medical Association - Resident Fellow Section (AMA-RFS)

Be a voice for family medicine as a resident delegate to the American Medical Association Resident and Fellow Section (AMA-RFS).

What does a resident delegate to the AMA-RFS do?

Residents in this position represent family medicine and the AAFP at the AMA’s two business meetings each year.

Applications are reviewed by the AAFP Resident and Student Leadership Screening Committee and appointed by the AAFP Board of Directors.

The AMA House of Delegates (HOD) annually allocates delegate positions to state and specialty societies based on the number of their members that are also AMA members. The allocation is announced each year by Feb. 1. Depending on the delegation size, there may be an opportunity for one AMA-RFS delegate to also serve as a HOD delegate for that year’s annual and interim meetings. This additional responsibility will require two or three extra days of service.
