Each year, one resident is selected to serve as a voting member of the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM) Board of Directors. Important details

  • Application deadline: Applications are currently closed.

  • Term: Aug. 2, 2026 – July 31, 2027

  • Prerequisites required: None

  • Funding: Provided by STFM for attendance at STFM meetings

Position responsibilities

  • Engage in discussions to inform decisions made by the STFM Board of Directors (does not represent the AAFP).

  • Serve as a voting member of the STFM Board of Directors.

  • Participate as a voting member of the Graduate Medical Education Committee.

  • Serve as an ambassador for work to engage family medicine residents in STFM activities and academic family medicine.

  • Attend all STFM Board meetings and Graduate Medical Education Committee meetings during term as representative.

Candidates for this position are elected at AAFP’s FUTURE conference. Candidates should plan to attend the entirety of the conference. Candidates are required to be nominated at the conference, deliver a 2- to 3-minute speech, participate in a candidate Q&A, and, if elected, participate in a new officer orientation Saturday afternoon of the conference.
