Patient education is integral to the process that changes or enhances a patient’s knowledge, attitude or skills to maintain or improve health. Family physicians should take a leadership role in improving the health of the American public by providing accurate, evidence-based, culturally proficient, and meaningful patient education in an inclusive manner.
