    #1 Insertions and Removals of IUD: Fundamentals
    1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
    $160

    • Utilize the CDC MEC and SPR at the point of care to determine whether a patient with medical comorbidities is an appropriate candidate for an IUD and identify rare contraindications to IUD use when they arise.
    • Counsel patients about IUDs and implants in a non-biased, non-judgmental format, providing evidence-based information in a way that builds trust through shared decision making regarding contraceptive choices.
    • Develop hands on skills for insertion and removal of all IUD types currently available in the US.

    #2 Management of Persistent Occiput Posterior Position
    1:30 – 3:30 p.m.
    $160

    • Identify the presence of the occiput posterior (OP) position during late pregnancy, and during first and second stages of labor. Diagnose a persistent OP using ultrasound.
    • Teach women with persistent OP position up to three position changes that may provide relief of back pain, and possibly assist in correction of the malposition.
    • Demonstrate proper techniques of manual rotation of the persistent OP position during stage two when the fetus is at a +2 station and vertex presentation.

    #3 Ultrasound in Early Pregnancy
    1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

    • Practice transabdominal and transvaginal scanning techniques to identify the uterus, bladder and adnexa in a non-pregnant patient.
    • Recognize how to confirm an intrauterine pregnancy using transabdominal and transvaginal scanning techniques and describe the normal progression of first trimester sonographic milestones.
    • Visualize embryonic cardiac activity, discuss usage of M-mode to calculate a fetal heart rate, and describe the sonographic appearance of missed abortion, incomplete abortion, free pelvic fluid and ectopic pregnancy.

    #4 Uterine Aspiration: MVA and EVA for Early Pregnancy Loss, Abortions, and More
    1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

    • Review appropriateness of MVA or EVA for specific medical indications, necessary equipment and describe the room set up to perform an MVA or EVA.
    • Rehearse Patient centered counseling for MVA or EVA as management options.
    • Demonstrate pain management options and identify common paracervical block techniques.
    • Practice trauma-informed techniques of MVA for early pregnancy loss and abortion.

    #5 Osteopathy in Pregnancy
    1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

    • Basic & Advanced Sessions (Basic for non-Dos, Advanced for DOs and others with related experience).
    • Describe the use of manipulative medicine technique to treat pregnancy related low back and pelvic pain through a case-based approach.
    • Demonstrate manipulative techniques to assist women with the discomforts of pregnancy.
    • Review documentation, and billing and coding for osteopathic manipulation treatment.
