Enough is Enough: Family Physicians Call for Immediate Action to Prevent Gun Violence
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wednesday May 25, 2022
Statement attributable to:
American Academy of Family Physicians
“The shooting in Uvalde marks the 212th mass shooting in the U.S. so far this year. We grieve with the families, the communities and our nation who have seen too many lives lost because of firearm violence. The AAFP has long advocated for policies that address gun violence as a public health crisis.
“Family physicians have seen first-hand the devastating impact firearm violence has had on our patients and the communities we serve. In 2020, firearms became the leading cause of death in children and adolescents. Enough is enough. It’s past time for action. Join us in advocating for the Senate to vote for H.R. 8 and H.R. 1446 so we can begin to enact policies that can save lives.”
