• AAFP Launches New Audio Journal Products

August 06, 2019 03:56 pm News Staff – Physicians who enjoy learning via an audio format will want to try two new AAFP audio products fresh out of the starting gate. These products are designed to help maximize physicians' time while delivering important clinical and practice management content.

Consider an audiobook titled "Communicating Effectively With Your Patients" that delivers 75 minutes of content based on six articles previously published in the journal FPM. The recording aims to improve physician-patient conversations as it guides listeners through

    • discovering seven skills that promote mastery of the art of medicine,
    • dealing with patients who present with a list,
    • improving communication with older patients,
    • learning to give bad news to patients,
    • managing difficult patient encounters, and
    • fostering patient satisfaction and adherence.

For less than $20, AAFP members can earn up to six Prescribed CME credits; new physicians, residents and students pay a discounted price.

A second AAFP audio option available for purchase is "Journal Audio," a collection of four audio recordings featuring content from the Aug. 1 and Aug. 15 issues of American Family Physician.

Recordings from the Aug. 1 AFP cover the journal feature article, "Management of Chronic Tendon Injuries" (20-minute run time) and an editorial titled "Controversies in Family Medicine: Should Adults with Prediabetes Be Prescribed Metformin to Prevent Diabetes Mellitus?" (11- minute run time).

The Aug. 15 article recordings will be added after the online issue is published.

This product is available to AAFP members for less than $10; new physicians, residents and students receive a discount. CME credit is not available for the individual articles included in this product but is available for complete AFP journal issues.

Importantly, these new Academy audio products can be accessed via physicians' computers or through the newly revised AAFP mobile application, which features an audio applet created specifically to ease access to audio recordings.

Want to give these products a test run before purchase? Just click on "Listen to the Sample" on each product webpage.

Not currently an FPM or AFP journal subscriber? No problem. These audio products are available to all AAFP members regardless of their subscriber status.
