Resident delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates
As the voice of family medicine residents, you'll take part in AAFP governance at the AAFP Congress of Delegates (COD).
What does the resident delegate to COD do?
The resident delegate to the AAFP Congress of Delegates takes on a national leadership role when they’re elected to begin serving as an alternate delegate to the current year’s COD. After experiencing the Congress of Delegates from the inside and learning how the AAFP is governed, they become the resident delegate to the following year’s COD.
The Congress of Delegates is the AAFP’s policy-making body. It’s made up of two delegates and two alternates from each chapter and from member constituencies including residents, students, new physicians and other groups that are represented at the National Conference of Constituency Leaders. The congress meets each year for two and half days immediately before the AAFP Family Medicine Experience (FMX).
