    Robyn Liu, MD, MPH, FAAFP

    Robyn Liu, MD, MPH, FAAFP, is a family physician in Portland, Oregon and is a member of the board of directors of the American Academy of Family Physicians. The AAFP represents 128,300 physicians and medical students nationwide. As an AAFP board member, Dr. Liu advocates on behalf of family physicians and patients to inspire positive change in the U.S. health care system.  

    Dr. Liu currently practices within Northwest Permanente, a multi-specialty physician-owned group in a fully integrated health system. She is the physician-in-charge of the second-largest primary care clinic in the region, overseeing operations of over 40 clinicians and working with teams to improve the health of the urban Portland neighborhoods. 

    She began her medical career in Tribune, Kansas, where she provided full-scope primary care, hospital care, obstetrical care and long-term care to three frontier counties on the Kansas-Colorado border. She pursued leadership opportunities at the AAFP by getting involved in NCCL, FMAS, commission work and the Kansas and Oregon Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Liu subsequently was a faculty member at  
    Oregon Health and Science University, focusing on health policy, medical education and residency program administration.

    Born and raised in Kansas, Dr. Liu earned her medical degree at the University of Kansas School of Medicine after earning undergraduate degrees in history and science at Harvard University. Dr. Liu completed a dual residency at Oregon Health and Science University, where she earned a board certification in public health and preventive medicine, and family medicine. She then graduated with honors from Portland State University with a master's in public health with a health management and policy emphasis.
